ESKOM Load shedding scheduled 2015

Eskom says that the week ahead will be “tight with a medium risk of load shedding” and a high risk on Thursday and Friday, 11-12 December.

“We’ll provide daily updates,” the power utility said via social media, after it informed the public on Monday morning that Stage 2 load shedding would continue until 10pm “due to machines not returning to service as expected”.

It said that the prognosis for load shedding will be low to medium from 15 December 2014 until mid-January 15, “should no additional risks occur on the system”.

“Eskom apologise to the nation for the inconvenience of the past few weeks due to load shedding.” said Eskom chief executive, Tshediso Matona at a media briefing on Monday.

“Eskom has communicated for an extended period to South Africa that the power system is extremely constrained and vulnerable.

“With the reserve margins being low, we do not have enough capacity to meet demand, necessitating a need for planned rotational load shedding,” the group said.

The group said that the power system will be severely constrained for the next two years, “at least until two units from Medupi and 1 unit from Kusile are running”.
