Johannesburg - Oscar Pistorius's ex-girlfriend, Samantha Taylor, has told a British newspaper that she once hid his gun because she was terrified of him and feared he'd kill her.

Taylor told The Mirror that she had bruises and scars after Pistorius had bit and pinched her during their 18-month relationship, and that he was angry and possessive.

This emerged as Pistorius was set to return to the North Gauteng High Court for the second day of the judgment in his murder trial.

On Thursday, Judge Thokozile Masipa found that Pistorius could not be found guilty of the premeditated murder of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, in February 2013.

That could have been me

Taylor told the Mirror that what happened to Steenkamp could easily have happened to her, and she's had nightmares since Steenkamp was shot dead in Pistorius's house.

She recounted an incident in which he accused her of beating him up, and how he was looking for his gun, which she had hidden under his bed out of fear for him.

Taylor also claimed Pistorius would lock her in his house with no food and go out for hours at a time. He also allegedly drove his Porsche at high speed to punish her.

Evidence

Taylor gave evidence during Pistorius's trial in March, but did not mention these incidents during her testimony. She did say there was "a lot of commotion" in her relationship with Pistorius.

She told the court that Pistorius had cheated on her twice, including with Steenkamp. She also recounted how Pistorius fired a shot through the open sunroof of a car. Pistorius said during his testimony that this was a lie.

In 2012, before the murder, she told City Press that Pistorius was not the person people think he is.
